This tour is loaded with Northwest Adventure. The Long Beach area has cranberry bogs, and depending on the time of year, we'll stop and see harvesting. There is plenty of time on the beach at the Pacific Ocean, with driftwood and sand. Do some rock or shell searching, watch the boats as they maneuver the mouth of the mighty Columbia river. Learn history about the explorers Lewis and Clark, the military presence in the area, and the fishing industry.
The drive there is half the fun! Wilapa Bay is usually full of water one way, and mud flats the other, it’s so astonishing to see the same space so very differently.
A small town on the ocean, Long Beach has many good restaurants and fun shopping for tee-shirts, kites, and assorted beach type items. At the sand dunes separating the town from the beach, you'll find dune grass, 31 miles or so of sandy beach, driftwood, and a boardwalk. Find seashells and rocks as you wander along the shoreline, listening to the pounding surf of the Pacific Ocean.
Stop at the North Head Lighthouse and explore the trail to the cliff, see seagulls, maybe see sea lions and/or harbor seals. Lunch is included at a nice restaurant.
