Suquamish Indians and Chief Seattle Tour

Our Native American Indians here are both in Seattle and all across Washington State.  There are 2 distinctive tribes near Seattle: The Duwamish and the Suquamish. Chief Seattle was a member of both, with his Father from one and his Mother the other. This tour focuses on the Suquamish, on the Kitsap Peninsula.

Cheryl’s Northwest Tours LLC will take you to Chief Seattle’s Grave, on the Port Madison Indian Reservation. A small cemetery facing Puget Sound and to the East, Chief Seattle’s grave is positioned as if looking toward Seattle.  The small church graveyard has been here a long time, and is inviting.  This is an active cemetery and used to this day. We are very respectful. His Grave is not shown in these photos.

The Suquamish Museum too is small, but they have created an amazing package of history in this small space. There are several exhibits that actually need explanation, so we do our best to get a docent to share the details with us. With Covid, sometimes we can’t. But Cheryl knows some things about the exhibits, in that case. Hopefully soon things will get easier.

This tour includes a ferry ride twice, lunch, the grave site visit and the Museum. We respect our native culture here and at Cheryl’s Northwest Tours LLC we hope we can share a small piece of it with you. Visit our website to book your tour. www.cherylsnwtours.com.
